KW automotive has developed the KW V5 coilover suspension with solid piston dampers for these Italian supercars produced from 2019 to 2023. The solid piston dampers are separately adjustable in the high-speed and low-speed forces of the compression and rebound stages. Undeniably perfect driving machines

The Ferrari F8 Tributo and the F8 Spider are undeniably perfect driving machines. To enhance performance, the KW V5 coilover suspension kit is now available for both mid-engine supercars. “The V5 draws upon our experience developing suspensions for various car manufacturers’ customer racing programs,” explains KW Brand Manager Florian Johann. One key innovation of the V5 is its solid piston design. Unlike conventional dampers that rely on overflowing a working piston, the V5 utilizes a piston diameter-dependent volume displacement. This translates to a significant improvement in the suspension’s responsiveness and frequency behavior.

The KW V5 coilover suspension kit, featuring its innovative KW solid piston dampers, is available for high-performance sports cars and supercars. This includes performance vehicles like the Corvette C8, Honda NSX, Lamborghini Huracán, Lotus Emira, and Porsche Carrera GT. In the pre-configured setup, the V5 allows for independent adjustment of high-speed and low-speed compression and rebound forces. This enables the Ferrari F8 Tributo to achieve a sporty yet harmonious driving experience, even with the option of a maximum lowering. Compared to the stock suspension, which is pretty well-balanced overall tuning, the KW V5 allows the driver assistance systems to intervene much later. This translates to a more dynamic driving experience. During compression, the KW V5 in the Ferrari dampens bumps harmoniously. Daily driving on country roads and smaller side streets remains comfortable, even for a supercar. The KW V5 coilover suspension cleanly absorbs unevenness from manhole covers, expansion joints, and small bumps with minimal spring travel.

Intuitive damper setup with ergonomic adjustment wheels

The KW preset damper setup for the F8 can be further customized for enhanced comfort or sportier handling. This is achieved by manually adjusting four driving dynamics parameters on the coilover suspension kit: high-speed compression, high-speed rebound, low-speed compression, and low-speed rebound. In vehicle dynamics, high-speed and low-speed refer to the speed of the damper piston rod’s movement. Fast damper movements are typically caused by uneven road surfaces like poor asphalt or bridge joints. Slower movements occur during acceleration, braking, and steering. Adjusting the V5 dampers’ parameters increases ride comfort without sacrificing handling. For instance, the high-speed compression and rebound valves can be set for a more comfortable ride, while the low-speed compression and rebound can be firmer for sharper handling. The compression stage affects compression, and the rebound stage controls rebound, contributing to body support.

Precise driving experience with residual ride comfort

The KW V5 coilover suspension represents a paradigm shift in driving dynamics for the Ferrari F8 Tributo. This meticulously engineered suspension delivers a more responsive and dynamic experience, transforming your on-road experience. Compared to the standard suspension, the KW V5 boasts superior steering precision, surpassing even the “Race mode” settings. This translates to demonstrably more direct handling, allowing the supercar to retain ample safety reserves at its performance envelope. Notably, these performance enhancements are achieved in conjunction with significant lowering capabilities. The KW V5’s meticulously designed, shorter struts effectively lower the center of gravity of the F8 Tributo and F8 Spider by 10 millimeters. Further adjustments can be made to achieve an additional 20 millimeters of lowering, reaching a maximum of 30 millimeters.

Furthermore, the KW V5 kit integrates decommissioning kits for the electronic damper control. These kits are effortlessly installed during the suspension upgrade and effectively deactivate the functionality of the original dampers. “These are simply connected during installation and limit the functionality of the original damper control. All other features of the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer, such as the F1 Traction Control System and Electronic Differential, remain active,” Florian Johann further explains. With the KW V5 coilover suspension, the renowned suspension manufacturer, which develops and manufactures suspensions for numerous small-series car manufacturers and tuners, adds a coilover suspension to its product line that significantly improves handling, driving dynamics, and ride comfort even for the Ferrari F8 Tributo and Ferrari F8 Spider supercars.
