Fichtenberg (Germany), May 14, 2025 – The KW V3 coilover suspension is now available for the current VW Passat Variant (B9) with 4Motion all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive. For both models, the parts certificate covers a continuous lowering range of 35 to 60 millimeters on the front axle and 40 to 65 millimeters on the rear axle. The KW multi-valve dampers improve the driving dynamics of the VW Passat Variant and even enhance driving comfort. Even at high cornering speeds, the suspension brings calmer and stability to the station wagon during sporty driving. The coilover suspension, made of stainless steel in Germany by KW automotive to order, features dampers that can be independently adjusted in the low-speed compression and rebound stages. The KW V3 coilover suspension is now available for the VW Passat Variant (B9). The coilover suspension, made of stainless steel and manufactured to order by KW automotive in Fichtenberg, provides the VW Passat an excellent balance of increased driving dynamics and ride comfort combined with maximum lowering. “For our pure road applications, such as the KW V3 coilover suspension, we always design the suspension to be as firm as necessary and as comfortable as possible,” says KW Brand Manager Florian Johann.” That’s why we rely on progressive suspension springs and our two-stage compression and rebound damping valves.” In the KW V3 coilover suspension with its multi-valve technology, the compression and rebound valves consist of a preconfigured high-speed valve and an adjustable low-speed valve.

On long bumps or when cornering on level ground, i.e., with slow damper excitation, the KW V3 dampers operate in the low-speed range. Short bumps cause much higher piston rod speeds in the damper when driving the VW Passat Variant on an uneven road. The high-speed valves preconfigured during damper production open due to the higher oil flow, and the increase in force is lower than in the low-speed range. This is why the KW V3 coilover suspension dampens hard impacts cleanly, and the VW Passat Variant springs harmoniously. The KW V3 valve technology also maximizes this advantage at maximum lowering and under strong excitation.

“If the preset damping setup in the delivery state is too comfortable or too firm, you can further adjust the handling yourself in just a few simple steps,” explains KW Brand Manager Florian Johann. With a higher rebound stage, the handling on the front axle becomes even more direct, while the ride comfort may be slightly reduced. Low rebound forces increase driving comfort at slow speeds, while higher rebound forces lead to better feedback in terms of handling. The rebound stage can be adjusted with 16 precise clicks on the KW V3. Higher compression forces or a harder compression stage on the front axle ensure even more direct steering. The VW Passat becomes more precise to steer and more aggressive to handle.

A softer compression stage makes the steering behavior much more docile. Higher compression forces on the rear axle counteract oversteer. The Passat also becomes more stable when changing direction. A softer setting allows the rear of the Variant to steer much more freely. The compression stage can be adjusted with twelve clicks. When ordering the KW coilover suspension, it is important to check whether it is intended for a VW Passat with all-wheel or front-wheel drive. As part of the parts certificate, the KW V3 coilover suspension for the 4Motion covers the same range of continuous lowering as for the VW Passat with front-wheel drive: from 35 to 60 millimeters on the front axle and 40 to 65 millimeters on the rear axle. The coilover suspension is not yet available for the Variant with plug-in hybrid.
